A Study In Simplicity

In every home, there’s one space that often surprises guests the most—not because of its size, but because of its style. In the Highland Hacienda Project, that space is the powder room. It may be small in footprint, but it’s rich in detail, texture, and atmosphere—proof that even the most compact spaces can make the boldest statement.

The Mood

Our goal was to create a room that felt intimate yet elevated—a warm, inviting hideaway that leaves a lasting impression. The palette leans into earthy, desert-inspired tones, with plaster-finished walls that wrap the space in softness. Lighting plays a starring role, casting a gentle, ambient glow that enhances every texture and surface.

A Sink with a Story

The focal point of the room is an incredible carved stone sink—its raw, organic edges and weathered surface bring a sense of history and permanence. Set atop a floating, custom wood vanity, the stone’s natural patina is complemented by the warmth of the wood grain. It’s a pairing that feels both grounded and refined.

Elevated Minimalism

In a small space, every detail matters. Matte black fixtures and hardware add modern contrast, while an arched mirror draws the eye upward, making the room feel more spacious. On the vanity, a curated arrangement of soap bottles and a simple tray keeps the styling purposeful, while fresh greenery in a sculptural vase breathes life into the space.

Why We Love It

Powder rooms are a designer’s playground—they’re the perfect opportunity to step away from the rest of the home’s palette and play with mood, texture, and light. In the Highland Hacienda, this space became more than just a practical stop—it became a moment. A pause. A reminder that beauty belongs in every corner of the home, no matter the size. Whether you’re designing a sprawling primary suite or a compact powder room, intention is everything. This space proves that thoughtful choices and layered textures can turn even the smallest rooms into unforgettable experiences.
